     Social media is an online media that is used for long-distance communication needs, the process of interaction between users with one another, as well as getting information through special application devices using the internet network. The purpose of the existence of social media itself is as a means of communication to connect users with a very wide area coverage. 

 Basically, the existence of social media is very beneficial for us, especially the younger generation. With social media we can connect with anyone even though we are far apart. With social media, we can make friends with anyone. Besides that, with social media we can open our horizons about the outside world even though we have never been there. In times of a pandemic like this, social media also becomes very meaningful because it can support our activities as students in understanding and sharing lessons.

    Social media may also give negative impacts such ascyberbullying, about 10 percent of teens report being bullied on social media and many other users are subjected to offensive comments. There is also depression and anxiety,human beings need face to face contact to be mentally healthy. Nothing reduces stress and boosts your mood faster or more effectively than eye-to-eye contact with someone who cares about you. The more you prioritize social media interaction over in-person relationships, the more you're at risk for developing or exacerbating mood disorders such as anxiety and depression.

In the end, social media will have a good impact if we are wise in using it. I personally find social media very useful, especially for us young people. With social media we can access everything quickly and get to know more people from all over the world. Besides that, during a pandemic like this, social media is very useful for the sake of education. There are so many learning media that use social media as one of the media. So that all the negative things from social media can be removed if we are wise in using it.
